Potting up Mango from seed.

My mango seed #2 is looking good. I know most people will wait until it starts rooting and growing leaves before putting it in soil but I have had bad success transferring sprouting seeds in that way so I decided to pot it up already.

Also there is some debate as to which direction to orient the seed in the dirt. Some say flat, some say rounded end down. I figured in the “wild” the seed will always lay flat so I went with flat.

Here he is! Last time I will see the seed!

Hopefully in a few weeks I will see a shoot rising from the soil. I used organic Happy Frog potting mix.

I just found your site this morning after having fresh fruit for breakfast. You’ve shown exciting potential for my recently-(this morning!)consumed mango. I’ve scrapped the pulp off. It must be a ‘Kent’. All of that aside, how is your mango doing?

It didn’t make it 😦 but I will try again! Maybe the warmer weather will help now 🙂

Winci, Phooey! Well, I’ll try to plant mine and see if it develops. I wish you success in your next mango seed attempt. Thank you for your response and your great instructions!

Hey! You left us hanging haha. Did the mango grow? My seed has been growing for five days now but the root is still as small as yours 😦 I’m wondering if I should go ahead and plant it

Haha! Sorry! I don’t think it was a success. 🙂 I should try it again tho. Good luck with yours!
