Excited about these plump little Southmoon Blueberries!

13 Mar

I thought my blueberry plants were done – leaves started dropping like crazy, branches were turning red and leaves turning brown with spots. Total disaster.

I tried to temporarily adjust the ph of the soil with diluted vinegar and removed all the old leaves remaining. New leaves are coming in now and the blueberries are plumping up nicely.

Very exciting there are so many berries on the plant!

Grape trellis looking good but no signs of grapes

13 Mar

I guess I’m not going to get any grapes this year as i believe they are supposed to be popping out of the leaf axial.

Leaves look full and healthy though and hopefully I can manage the vines to wrap around the trellis this year so it will be ready for bountiful bunches of grapes next year.

Homegrown asparagus big enough to eat!

My container asparagus is doing really well. If I remember correctly, they are only two year old crowns although when I bought them, they came in a six pack of tiny ferns. I assume they were grown from seed…

I haven’t done anything special to them at all, add about an inch of fresh soil and some organic fertilizer once in a while.

There are a real mix of different sized spears. This one by far is the biggest one!
